Spartan's Consume is excellent for keeping those drains under control!
Consume is made up of natural digesters that actually 'eat' the organic material that cause odors. It's great vanilla fragrance gives immediate relief while the digesters do the real work.
As a Drain Maintainer: To prevent clogging, use Consume 2-4 times a week. Simply pour in your drain- 4oz for every 2" inside diameter of pipe. For best results, use at the end of the day or when water flow is at it's lowest.

Cleaning Spots on Carpets
1. Start by placing wet floor signs and putting on personal protective equipment, such as gloves and safety glasses.
2. Remove any excess liquid and/or solids.
3. Apply water, then the proper chemical to the spot.
4. Allow to sit for 5 minutes.
5. Using the blunt edge of a scraping tool, gently agitate moving towards the center of the spot.
6. Either blot with a clean white towel or extract with a hand extractor. Do not rub the spot! (Repeat steps 3-6 if necessary)
7. It is always a good idea to rinse the area with clean water when complete. This will help stop re-staining from chemical residue.
8. Use a hand extractor to pull remaining liquid from the carpet. You can also use a clean, dry white towel to blot as much liquid up from the carpet as possible.

Kill The Germy Spots in Your Office
Your desk phone. The actual desk. That printer down the hall everyone uses. All harboring lots of germs. What do I mean by 'lots', you ask? About 400 times more germs than on a toilet seat!
Be Sure to Disinfect: Be sure you are using a disinfectant on all hard surface, 'high touch' areas. A disinfectant actually kills the bacteria that causes illness. Sanitizers only reduce the amount/growth of bacteria.
Using a disinfecting with a disposable wipe is best. The area needs to stay wet for at least 5-10 minutes for a complete kill (see chemical bottle for exact times). For areas not easily reached, try an aerosol disinfectant spray such as Spartan's Sparsan Q Disinfectant Deodorant.
Don't forget these 'high touch' areas-
Wash Your Hands...Please: Something that cannot be stressed enough! You should lather your hands with soap (does not have to be antibacterial) and wash for at least 20 seconds!

Entrance Matting- Looks Great AND Saves Money!
Keeping your building looking it’s
best while providing a safe environment for employees and guests can be
challenging. The International
Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), the world’s largest cleaning association,
has discovered up to 80% of the dirt that enters a facility is tracked in as
people enter the building. This dirt and debris can cause health risks, extra
cost in maintenance to flooring and be a serious slip/fall problem. The proper entrance matting can stop as much
as 90% of the mess!
10-15
feet of entrance matting is suggested.
Be sure to incorporate both outside and indoor scraper mats!

The Wrath of Ice Melt Residue
It's coming. After the first big snowfall. That white residue tracked in at all entryways. It’s a nuisance on carpets and hard floors. This is essentially a hard water/scale residue brought on by ice melters- like what you would see in restrooms. This does not mean you would use a bowl cleaner on your floors- PLEASE do not do this. There are cleaners made specifically to handle this problem without ruining your floors!
A good neutral cleaner will be safe for floor finishes and
can also remove the ice melt residue without streaks. We like Double DutyNeutral Floor Cleaner. It’s economical, and it does a great job cleaning
everyday traffic on floors without removing the finish.
If you have a major ice melt tracking problem and it also
involves carpeting, we recommend Concept “915”. It easily wipes out the white
crust on hard floors and on carpeted areas.
Preventative Measures:
- Although Ice melt is a must, you can minimize tracking by trying to keep walkways clear of ice and snow.
- Use Ice-Melt sparingly- more is not always better!
- Entrance matting. Entrance matting. Entrance matting- 10-15 feet is ideal. You want to get as much ice melt off feet before they hit your floors. This also minimizes slip and fall hazards!

OH My Aching Back!
Safety is a major concern for AMS Advanced Maintenance
Service. Unfortunately, all cleaning staff is at high risk for injury because
of the cleaning chemicals and equipment they use daily. Here are some tips we follow to ensure the
safety of our staff:
Dress the part
To prevent slips and falls, wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes
with non-slip tread. Long pants, eye
protection and gloves are also a necessity when working with cleaning chemicals.
Match the tool to the person
You wouldn’t expect a small person to use a large mop- the
same goes for a larger person using a small mop. Neither
scenario is efficient. Both workers are wasting motion, taking longer to
complete the task. They are more likely to be exposed to injury from
repetitive motion.
Watch your posture
Incorrect posture is stressful on the body. Be sure you are using
different parts of your body for assistance. Lift with your legs. Use your arms for support when leaning over or crouching.
Read the label
Read ALL cleaning chemical labels to ensure proper usage. Be sure
to have the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) on hand in case of an emergency.
Stay safe everyone!
