Cleaning to Keep Allergies Under Control

AMS Cleaning for Allergies

Regular cleaning can get rid your home/facility of many allergy triggers and help relieve your symptoms.

Here are some ways to keep allergies in check:

  • Vacuum once or twice a week using a vacuum with a HEPA filter. Some allergens are so small that a regular vacuum filter cannot contain them. You could be just picking them up off the floor and throwing them into the air to be breathed in if you are not using a HEPA filter.
  • Do not shampoo your own carpets. Excess moisture could cause mold growth or increase dust mites. Professional carpet cleaners have powerful extraction equipment that will leave as little moisture as possible.
  • Wear a dust mask when you clean. It’s also a good idea to leave the house for a few hours. It will limit your exposure to allergens you kicked up into the air.
  • Keep the bathroom/locker room mold-free. Don't forget shower curtains, too. You may be able to toss it in the washing machine.
  • Wash sheets and blankets weekly in hot water. This will kill any dust mites. Do the same with any washable pillows.
  • Use unscented or ‘fragrance free’ cleaners and detergents. If you have allergies, the fragrances in cleaners may trigger symptoms.
  • Clean with a damp cloth and mop. It will help trap allergens instead of sending them into the air. We can supply microfiber clothes and mops!
  • Keep entryways clean. The cleaner your foyer and front walkway, the less likely someone is to track dust, pollen and other allergens into your home or business.
