What You May Be Missing When Washing Your Hands

This shows the most frequently missed areas (pink) and the generally missed areas (purple)
Good hand hygiene practices can reduce illness, absence due to illness and the associated costs by up to 40%. However, numerous studies continue to demonstrate that the correct procedure of hand washing is not adhered to.
Separate washroom studies from around the world show that only 70% of people wash their hands and only 30% of people actually use soap when washing their hands!
Now, the people that DO wash their hands usually don’t wash long enough. It is recommended that you scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds when washing. Attention should be paid to the backs of the hands and fingertips as these are frequently missed.
